Valerie Ann Worwood book “The Complete Book of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy” is one of the most comprehensive and down to earth books on the subject, especially for beginer. If I were to give in a course on aromatherapy, this would be one of the two main texts that I would use because it is so complete. This writing style is very clear, easily understood and readable. No dryness here. It begins by discussing ten o’clock essntial oils as a kit of “basic care” and explains how these oils should be used through an alphabetical list of common household occurrences. The list includes the following as some of the issues: abdominal pain. -Abraisions. Black-Eye. -Contusions. “Colds. Fever. -Headache. -Hicups. As a matter of principle, explained at the start of the book that the information contained therein is not intended to take the place of care of a physician. Chapters of his book on travel, sports related injuries, and Beauty (3 chapters covering head to toe!) And Motherhood Maternity, Men / Women ‘s Health (separate chapters), and aging are exceptional. She closes with chapters on aromatherapy for animals and gardening, I have not seen, except in a work by Dr. Gary Young. The graphs at the end of the book and complete refrance indespensable quick smart. Bibliography lists authors such as Valerie Belaiche; Gattefose; Valnet, Duraffourd, Lapraz and Wells, shows he is very well to say what is experienced. These authors are the pioneers of the modern revival of aromatherapy too, and should be read by all who wish to be serious students of art and science that is aromatherapy. Those who want to criticize his lack of Literary sitations should go and read the works cited here, remembering that Valerie has over 25 years experience as a student and professional practice in a country where aromatherapy is taken seriously, and all that is left Literary criticism is empty exploitation. Better yet, you should use your book, and let the experience speak for itself! My only suggestion for a revision would be a thorough chapter on the chemistry of oils and their interaction with the body systems. Otherwise, I believe this book is one of the best out there on the subject. It makes a great gift for all occasoins.

The book is full of good information. However, no safety data for the oils produced. Some oils are not safe for use during pregnancy, estrogen-dependent cancer, or may cause skin irritation or phototoxicity (sunburn). Be careful when it comes to recipes in this book or the research of more oil.

section disturbing was the pet. I would definitely do more research before putting anything on a cat. Cats lick their fur and not all the oils may be ingested. The eucalyptus is poisonous if taken internally. There have been reports of tea tree near kill cats. Additionally, we recommend adding tansy to feed a horse for the treatment of worms. Tansy is very toxic to horses and cows. People often try to remove the plant from their pastures.

last word. Do your research and not just use a single book.

This is the most practical aromatherapy book ever! I finally found a book that offers effective formulas for all types of everyday health problems, and other serious health conditions did not expect to find in it. Every formula we (my friends and family) have tried works! It’s like having your own specialist health care, on the one hand, and its indispensable. And it is written like a friend talking to you. Just as everything whole chapters on pets, gardening, cooking, children, infants, elderly, home, work problems, etc. etc. etc. This book has totally changed my life! – And I’m very happy about it. What this book is not – a boring list of details on essential oils, no practical advice. This is the book for everyone. You’ll wonder how you lived without it. It has given me control of my life. Feeling stressed? Just look it up, put oil in the bath and – presto! – They insist on no more! A WONDERFUL LIFE-Changer!

I think this is a good concise book on essential oils (and I have many, both in English and Italian, giving the perspective of aromatherapy in England, North America, Italy and Germany). However, caution everyone to ignore the advice of absinthe on the use of essential oils in animals. Wormwood recommends the use of certain oils, including tea tree oil, lavender and others, in all cats which are highly toxic to cats. Before buying this book, which had sensed never use essential oils in my two cats (I think mainly because every time you use tea tree oil or lavender in me, I avoid them like the plague). But when I saw these same oils recommended in the book of absinthe for use on cats, I foolishly thought that if it is in print, it must be true. So when one of my cats have an abscess on the hip of a cat bite, I tried to treat abscesses Wormwood, using tea tree oil (only a couple drops) on it. She tried desperately to run from me, as I tried to apply the drops and then within 15-20 minutes, began to act very sick. Thank God I had the sense to stop the treatment, I did a Google search and discovered that in fact, tea tree oil, and a number of other oils that are highly toxic Wormwood recommended for cats – the liver does not can process certain oils and become poison in their systems. I even read the reports of the kittens killed since the applications of low doses of tea tree oil. I’d say this is a very good reference book for human applications, but if you care for your pets, do more research on their own to find out the facts on the use of essential oils on animals. You just might save your life. If it were not for the lack of dangerous information in the pet section, I would have given the book 4 stars.

“The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy” by Valerie Ann Worwood is a must for every home! I just love this book. In fact, my copy is a great need for the replacement of constant use. In 1997 I received a phone call from a man who wanted to know if I could develop an odor that would be a particular issue for him. Then, the next thing I knew I was asked to make some soap for him. A project that I always wanted to do, but never ventured into. That led me to learn about soap making, which led me to learn about essential oils. Valerie’s book was the first I looked and bought along with 2 by Julia Lawless.
Because I knew nothing about essential oils, “The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy” became my mainstay. Finally, after learning more about essential oils, I ventured in the other books too. Valerie’s book makes learning about essential oils easy. His book is easy to read, and easy for those like me who knew nothing at all to learn and understand. This is an excellent book for beginners or those who are advanced in the art of essential oils as well.
“The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy” will have those who like me had absolutely no knowledge of essential oils, using them in seconds! I recommend this book to anyone interested in learning what essential oils are and how to use them. Valerie goes for home use, travel, first aid, workplace and provides formulas to make their own oils so you can put your newfound knowledge to work.
